Williamsport, Pa – Kathleen D. Chesmel and Ellyn A. Lester have joined Pennsylvania University of Engineering to guide two divisions of the University of Engineering Systems.
Chesmel will head the Resources Science and Engineering Technologies when Lester will head the Development and Architectural Technologies Division. Both of those new hires have tutorial and field knowledge in their respective fields.

“We had quite a few exceptional candidates to pick from, but Kathy and Ellyn stood out with their impeccable qualifications and enthusiasm for the college’s palms-on education that effects in worthwhile, sustainable occupations. I’m confident that they will make considerable contributions to the faculty, benefiting both students and school,” Webb stated.
Chesmel oversees all plastics, welding, civil and surveying, and production majors.
Most lately, she was an adjunct professor training graduate programs at Immaculata College, an instructional and experienced improvement consultant, and director of the Make-it-Matter Resources Science Camp at Penn Point out.
From 2002-18, Chesmel was a science teacher at New Egypt Large School in Plumsted, NJ., exactly where she gained the 2011 Princeton University Prize for Distinguished Secondary University Teaching. Chesmel has introduced at various seminars and workshops, been published in peer-reviewed journals and is the co-inventor of two U.S. patents. She retains a doctorate and a master’s diploma in bioengineering from the College of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s diploma in mechanical engineering from Princeton.
As assistant dean of architectural and construction systems, Lester is dependable for all architecture, setting up development, design administration and HVAC majors. She will come to Penn School from Stevens Institute of Technologies, Hoboken, NJ., the place she was the associate chair of graduate scientific studies for the Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering Department and chair of constructed atmosphere packages.
The Countrywide Affiliation of Women in Design honored Lester in 2020 with its Carol A. Kueker Design Schooling Visionary Award.
Prior to Stevens, Lester was director of profession providers and adjunct college at NewSchool of Architecture and Style and design. Her other knowledge features setting up a countrywide consulting organization, NovaConnect Inc.vice president of architecture for MBA Management Inc. vice president of membership and advertising and marketing for the Design-Make Institute of The united states and director of business development for WRS Architects Inc.
She has manufactured peer-reviewed convention presentations and composed for both peer-reviewed and industry publications. Lester belongs to numerous professional societies, which include remaining the joint commissioner of the Worldwide Council for Study and Innovation in Building Design.
Lester is finishing a doctorate from the University of Salford (England), concentrating on the developed environment. She holds a master’s degree in architecture and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, each from the University of Kansas.
The School of Engineering Systems is the largest of the three faculties that comprise Penn College or university.
In addition to construction and architectural systems and materials science and engineering systems, the school has divisions devoted to diesel technological know-how and natural assets, industrial and personal computer technologies, and transportation.
